If you want to help raise awareness during Autism Awareness Month……there is a very simple way to start! Go to the hardware store, buy a blue light bulb, put it in your porch or outdoor light fixture (just like we did on ours below), and turn it on every night during the month of April. If you do this small thing, you will be honoring all those affected! Autism Speaks began this campaign years ago and calls it “Light It Up Blue!” Tons of corporate buildings, concert halls, sports venues, bridges, and such worldwide are doing this as well! From the Empire State Building, to the Sydney Opera House, to the clubhouse of a neighborhood near our house! Join us!
Here is a beautiful song that is dedicated to this movement……..
Oftentimes, I will log onto Facebook in the morning, and/or receive a text or email with a photo, quote, or other piece of encouragement. And these will truly bless my heart and soul…. allowing me to step back and think, re-evaluate, better understand, appreciate, or they can just plain uplift me. In turn, I am able to go about my day with a new perspective, attitude, and also….a grateful heart. Today, I thought I would share some of those pieces of inspiration with you. Some pertain to Autism and others to family, faith, and relationships. I pray these thoughts, verses, and photos bring you hope, something to think about, and a whole lot of encouragement for your day today and beyond! God bless!
Hi all! I know it’s been forever……and unfortunately…….this is not abnormal. One of these days, maybe I will be better! I certainly have that as an aspiration. But you may notice that the blog has undergone a slight facelift. It is a work in progress but it is progress no less. Anyhow, it’s World Autism Awareness Day! And April is Autism Awareness Month. I hope to share several mini posts with y’all throughout the month to better inform you about what Autism is, how it affects those affected, Cannon’s personal struggles/triumphs, and how you can help the individuals and families in the trenches. I thought I would start with our story……just incase you haven’t seen it. It needs updating. But I hope it will give you a hint of what this journey has been like for us thus far. From Cannon’s birth to today. Enjoy and if you feel led…..SHARE! The point of this month is to raise awareness. And with the new numbers that the CDC released last week (1 in 68 people are now being diagnosed)…..the need is there. Thank you for your love…..for following our story…..and for all the prayers since Autism came into our lives. It has been a long 4 years since diagnosis……but by God’s grace and thanks to the prayers of so so very many……we are still standing and dare I say…..thriving! Much, much love!
